A creative panorama of cultural practices and policies in European countries

Culture Europe International is a French magazine/press review focusing on cultural practices and policies in Europe at the local, national and international level. It particularly deals with European and international cooperation experiences conducted in various areas of culture and the arts by its many stakeholders - i.e. national governments, territorial communities, foundations, professional networks and associations.

Founded by Jean-Michel Djian in 1994, Culture Europe International sprang from the will of players of cultural life in Europe who are convinced that it is now critical to provide practitioners, students, scholars as well as art and culture audiences with a work and thinking tool. Offering its readership news and analysis documents - either in print or on line -, Culture Europe International is aimed at taking part in the sharing of values, knowledge, initiatives and debates that fertilise Cultural Europe and its relations with the other continents.

A magazine at the crossroads of European current events
Thousands of journalists and witnesses relate the actions of their fellow citizens, cultural organisation representatives or project managers their own way in their own country. Yet what do we know? Still those data from across Europe are essential for our professional practice. First to understand then to decide. Hence Culture Europe International also publishes commentaries from the specialised European press - from papers or magazines. Our magazine is also open to newsletters and magazines from other continents as long as they deal with cultural practices and policies as well as international cooperation.

An electronic magazine and reference publications
Since 2006, Culture Europe International has been providing its readership with a Website available in three languages (French, English and Spanish) including news and analyses written as European current events develop. The e-magazine facilitates browsing through special reports and articles according to various cultural and artistic themes and a geographical index. The editorial content is completed by an annual reference publication featuring a pan-European or international theme. As an example, the 2007 issue will focus on the European festival phenomenon in close cooperation with the European Festival Research Project (EFRP) created by Dragan Klaic and gathering scholars from ten countries.

Culture Europe International is one of the publishers of the Artishoc platform, created by the managers of Mouvement magazine with a view to sharing critical information and analyses in the artistic and cultural area.

Culture Europe International is published with the support of and in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Communication (Development and International Affairs Delegation) and the Institute of European Studies of the University of Paris VIII. The association regularly works with the European Cultural Foundation.
