جامعه شناسان و انسان شناسان متخصص دین(9) :رادنی استارک

سید حسین میررضی

رادنی استارک (Rodney Stark) استاد جامعه شناسی دانشگاه بیلر(Baylor University) آمریکا و از جامعه شناسان متخصص دین در آمریکا به شمار می رود. این جامعه شناس دین آمریکایی در یک خانواده لوتری مذهب در شهر جیمزتون (Jamestown) ایالت داکوتای شمالی متولد شد. استارک پیش از شروع تحصیلات دانشگاهی به عنوان روزنامه نگار در ارتش آمریکا مشغول به کار بود تا این که در سال 1959 مدرک لیسانس خود را از دانشگاه دنور (University of Denver) در رشته مورد علاقه خود یعنی روزنامه نگاری دریافت نمود. وی مدرک فوق لیسانس را در سال 1965 و مدرک دکترا را در سال 1971 در رشته جامعه شناسی از دانشگاه برکلی کالیفرنیا دریافت کرد و مشغول به تدریس در همین دانشگاه گردید.

استارک در این دانشگاه برنامه های متعددی را به مثابه یک جامعه شناس محقق در مرکز تحقیقات پیمایشی و مرکز مطالعه قانون و جامعه به مرحله اجرا درآورد. پس از سال ها تدریس در دانشگاه برکلی و انجام پروژه های عظیم علمی در مراکز تحقیقاتی این دانشگاه، به دانشگاه واشینگتون (University of Washington ) عزیمت نموده و به درجه پروفسور جامعه شناسی در این دانشگاه نائل گردید و به مدت 32 سال به تدریس در دانشگاه واشنگتن پرداخت. او تا کنون 28 کتاب و 144 مقاله را در زمینه های مختلفی به رشته تحریر درآورده که قسمت عظیمی از این تالیفات در حوزه دین به نگارش درآمده است. کتاب ها و مقالات وی تا کنون به زبان های مختلفی از جمله (چینی، آلمانی، فرانسوی، یونانی و ...) ترجمه شده است. این جامعه شناس شهیر آمریکایی و حامی نظریه انتخاب عقلانی در جامعه شناسی دین، از سال 2004 به عنوان استاد جامعه شناسی دانشگاه بیلر مشغول تدریس است. دیدگاه های شخصی استارک پیرامون دین نظریه تطور و آموزش: استارک در سال 2004 مقاله ای را در نقد نظریه تطور چارلز داروین با عنوان «حقایق، افسانه و داروین» منتشر نمود. وی در این مقاله به نقد نهضت داروینیسم پرداخته و پیشنهاد می کند که دولت ها باید متون درسی مدارس را از نوشته های نادرست داروین را که به مثابه یک حقیقت ابدی جاویدان گشته پاک کنند. از نظر استارک نظریات داروین باعث آن چنان سوء تفاهمی شده است که امروز کمتر کتابی وجود دارد که خلقت بشر را به ساده ترین اشکال تقلیل ندهد. استارک در بیان دیدگاه های مذهبی خود در یک مصاحبه ای ادعا کرده که من انسان معتقدی نیستم و در عین حال ملحد هم نیستم. پاره ای از فعالیت ها و افتخارات علمی وی: استاد جامعه شناسی و ادیان تطبیقی در دانشگاه واشنگتن در خلال سال های 1971 تا 2003، رئیس انجمن جامعه شناسی دین در بین سال های 1982 تا 1983، رئیس گروه جامعه شناسی دین در انجمن جامعه شناسی آمریکا از سال 1996 تا 1997 ، رئیس مرکز جامعه برای مطالعه علمی دین از سال 2003 تا 2004 ، دریافت جایزه کتاب برگزیده از مرکز جامعه برای مطالعه علمی دین برای کتاب «آینده دین: دنیوی شدن، خیزش و اشکال آیینی» در سال 1986، دریافت جایزه کتاب برگزیده از گروه جامعه شناسی دین در انجمن جامعه شناسی آمریکا برای کتاب «کنش های اعتقادی: تشریح جنبه های انسانی دین» در سال 2001، دکترای افتخاری از کالج جیمزتون در رشته ادبیات انسانی در سال 1994، جامعه شناس پژوهشگر در مرکز مطالعه قانون و جامعه در دانشگاه برکلی کالیفرنیا در میان سال های 1968 تا 1971. کتاب های وی در حوزه دین: Rodney Stark.
